The African continent which is home for more than 1.3 billion people imports 80 percent of its biopharmaceutical and medical consumables. However, most African countries do not have a strong regulatory system and often times lack resources to perform quality control on imported biopharmaceutical and medical products. These problems have led to a huge spread of counterfeit drugs throughout the continent. According to the World Health Organization more than 42 percent of counterfeit drugs sold globally between 2013 and 2017 were in Africa, accounting for nearly $80 billion.
Since 2013, Afeli Pharmaceuticals has been working diligently to address the crucial needs for high-quality healthcare products throughout the African continent. Our mission is to offer solutions that address the unmet needs of high-quality biopharmaceutical products in Africa from strategy to implementation.
